Christopher Heim’s practice focuses on business law, outside general counsel, and employment law.
Mr. Heim began his career with a transactional firm and then gained litigation experience with a mid-sized San Diego civil litigation firm. Eventually, Mr. Heim began taking on workers compensation cases, where he has handled over 600 cases from inception through trial. Mr. Heim zealously represents his clients.
Mr. Heim holds a bachelor’s degree in Business Administration from the University of San Diego and a Juris Doctorate degree from Thomas Jefferson School of Law, where he graduated Magna Cum Laude and was a member of Law Review.
Prior to attending law school, Mr. Heim worked for two software companies in the areas of Financial Planning and Analysis and Account Management.
Mr. Heim is a member of the California Bar, the San Diego County Bar Association, the Labor & Employment law and Workers Compensation sections of the San Diego County Bar Association. He also belongs to the Honorable Fiorenzo V. Lopardo American Inn of Court.
When not practicing law he enjoys running and spending time with his wife.
As a Registered Patent Attorney, Laura has helped more than 150 companies and universities protect their intellectual property. She represents and counsels clients in domestic and international patent, trademark, and copyright protection, right-to-use studies, negotiation of patent licenses and non-disclosure agreements. She also represents clients in opposition and infringement cases before the Trademark Trial and Appeal Board, and federal courts in California and Texas, and the International Trade Commission, as well as in Inter Partes Review proceedings before the Patent Trial and Appeal Board.
Combining her law degree from California Western School of Law with a doctorate in Molecular Biology from the University of Nebraska, Lincoln and a bachelors in Microbiology from Colorado State University, she brings a wealth of expertise to patent application preparation and prosecution, both foreign and domestic, in areas ranging from biotechnology, molecular biology, immunology and virology to diagnostics, medical devices, therapeutics, small molecules, and pharmaceuticals.
Additionally, she worked as a Research Associate with the National Institutes of Health, a Post-Doctoral Training Fellow in the Department of Pathology and Microbiology at the University of Nebraska Medical Center, and a Research Scientist with Streck Laboratories in Omaha, Nebraska.
Her passion is working with innovators, particularly in the field of biotech. It’s very rewarding for me to help my clients see their ideas and hard work turn into a protected and valuable product.
